Are You a Victim of Clergy Abuse?

child sexual abuse in the catholic church

In August 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court released a grand jury report uncovering widespread sexual abuse of minors in the Catholic Church. Over 300 clergy members were accused of sexually abusing more than 1,000 victims since the 1960’s. The grand jury report sent shockwaves nationally and internationally due to nature of the abuse, the pervasiveness of the abuse and the size of the alleged cover-up that was documented. Six major dioceses in Pennsylvania were investigated for child sexual abuse. The dioceses include Allentown, Eerie, Greensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh and Scranton.

It is important for survivors to know that they can speak out, seek justice and hold accountable those that are responsible. If you or your child have been the victim of sexual abuse, please contact us and we will do everything in our power to make sure that justice is served. The Catholic sexual abuse lawyers, will fight to hold abusers accountable by conducting a thorough investigation, subpoenaing documents and questioning abusers and their enablers under oath.

How Did the Pennsylvania State Legislature Respond to the Grand Jury Report?

Currently, a child sexual abuse survivor must pursue a civil law suit by their 30th birthday. However, in September 2018, after the release of the grand jury report, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted to pass to a child sexual abuse bill. If the bill passes the Senate and is signed into law by the Governor, the legislation could extend the amount of time that a victim has to pursue a civil law suit beyond the victim’s 30th birthday. Our firm is currently accepting cases for all sexual abuse victims, regardless of age.
