As we move through mid-May 2020, most of us will have spent at least ten weeks working from home.
Over these past ten weeks, the attorneys and staff at Eisenberg Rothweiler have been busy serving our clients, our referring attorneys, and the communities we live in.
We’ve been serving our clients and referring attorneys by continuing to investigate and litigate their cases even though many of the courts we practice in have practically shut down:
- We are investigating possible cases on behalf of prospective clients who contacted us directly or were referred to us;
- We are filing lawsuits, including two new sexual abuse lawsuits against the Boy Scouts of America in Hawaii and Montana (that were covered by the Associated Press and local Montana media, respectively); new talc lawsuits (both in Philadelphia and the MDL in the D.N.J.); a lawsuit seeking justice for our client who was struck and killed by a driver making Amazon deliveries; and a lawsuit seeking justice for our client who is now a quadriplegic after being rear-ended by a commercial vehicle;
- Speaking of the Boy Scouts of America, we continue to take a lead role in the organization’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings on behalf of our 3,000 clients. We’re making sure that each and every one of the survivors’ voices is heard, and that the Boy Scouts are held responsible for their century-long wrongdoing that led to an atmosphere of abuse that is unparalleled in our nation’s history;
- We are aggressively negotiating with insurance companies, hospitals, and major corporations, and refusing to let them slow down the pace of litigation because of court closures;
- We are scheduling and taking remote depositions of both corporate representatives and fact witnesses;
- We are continuing to serve and respond to discovery requests;
- We are engaging experts and reviewing their reports;
- We are mediating cases;
- We are pushing opposing counsel to agree to rescheduled trial dates as close in time to the original dates as possible; and
- We’re in frequent contact with our clients and referring attorneys via phone or video regarding developments in their cases.
Equally important, our attorneys and staff have been actively serving the communities they live in, and doctors, nurses, and other medical staff who are on the front lines battling COVID-19:
- We’ve delivered food to workers at Einstein Medical Center, Jefferson University Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus;
- We’ve made financial contributions to Feeding America, the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia Emergency Relief Fund, Philadelphia’s PHL COVID-19 Fund, Philabundance, Project H.O.M.E., the Share Food Program of Philadelphia, and the World Health Organization;
- We’ve donated food to other organizations, including a food pantry and a police department; and
- We’ve bought food for families in need.
